Gunung Merta Bungalows is a small family business founded by Ida Bagus Putu Tilem. It is currently managed by his son who is the second generation of this family to be involved in the hospitality industry and show a passion for the preservation of Balinese culture and traditional arts.

As members of the Brahmana caste, which is largely made up of high priests, the family are socially active within the local community and adhere to a lifestyle based on religious obligations.
